We love to engage with our community. Here are some of those special moments.
In March 2020, we received this message on our Facebook page...
"Hi Rumford Police! My 5 year old son, Owen, loves police cars and officers. He wants to be an officer when he grows up. He has picked up collecting police patches. We would love to be able to add one of yours to his collection. Is there any way that we can get one sent to us? Thank you very much and thank you for your service. I am sending a picture (left) of him excited when we receives one in the mail."

After receiving this message and seeing the pure innocence and excitement on Owen's face, the Chief decided that not only could we send him one of our police patches, we could make him an official Junior Rumford Police Officer! "Police departments across the country are having difficulties in finding good, qualified people to serve as police officers. I see this as an investment opportunity for our profession and our communities. Whether Owen decides to pursue a career in law enforcement or not, encouraging positive relations with our young people today is a win-win for everyone!", said Chief Tony Milligan. "I am proud to make him an honorary Junior Police Officer, in command of our Maricopa County Field Office!"
