Got Sand?
When winter is upon us, the Rumford Police Department and the Rumford Public Works Department team up to provide sand to our senior citizens who are physically unable to get sand on their own. Thanks to a generous donation of buckets from our local Aubuchon Hardware store and Sherwin Williams store, police officers and public works staff will deliver a bucket of sand to senior citizens in Rumford upon request that they can use to spread on their stairs and walkway to keep from slipping and falling.
To arrange for a delivery of a bucket of sand, please call the Rumford Police Department at 207-364-3449, extension 1 or click on the "Request Sand" button. We will do our best to get a bucket of sand delivered within a day or so.
Other Rumford residents may fill their own bucket with sand anytime at the Rumford Highway Garage at 1022 U.S. Route 2.
Pictured here is Gladys Gilbert, our first senior to receive a delivery of sand from Rumford Police Chief Tony Milligan, Corporal Donald Miller and Rumford Highway Superintendent Dale Roberts.
